Outdoor catering at its best, bringing you authentic flavours from our South African imported wood and coal fires to ignite a truely amazing open-fire catering experience with our unique South African flavours and aromas taking your tastebuds on a journey of discovery.
In our unique way, and in paying homage to pyrotechnology founded over 1-million years ago, we operate throughout the year, offering all bbq and braai requirements including our award-winning boerewors, chicken sosaties marinated in our signature Jabulela sauce as well as homely and warming winter delights such as our bespoke boerewors, bacon and red wine Potjie (traditional South African stew made in a cast iron pot) served with freshly fire-baked honey or beer bread.
We are completing our second sucessful year in this sphere, having catered festivals, garden parties, corporate events, weddings and numerous food and drink fairs, you are sure to have spotted the Jab van up and down the A12 corridor! We have been so excited to win a few new accolades, this is a true indicator of our passion for cooking first-rate food over open fires. We are happy to cater for all in and outdoor events from corporate and private hire, birthday parties, garden parties or informal catering.
Our main areas of operation are Suffolk, Norfolk and Essex but always happy to chat if your event would involve further travelling.
The first braais happened when meat was accidently dropped onto an open fire - this represented the turning point in evolution, turning humans from prey to predator by thier control of fire.

We had Jabulela braai for our wedding - These guys were awesome from start to finish. So accommodating to our needs (from the picky vegans who wanted food cooked on separate grills, to the last minute change to the number of guests), top quality food and just all round nice guys. Their choice of food was amazing - I wish we could've had it all at our wedding! Our guests loved the food, and so did we. They're such lovely people, they even gave our wedding co-ordinator a lift home when her trains were cancelled, and popped some food over to our evening caterers too. Thanks again for everything. 10/10 would recommend. Will be looking for an excuse to book these guys again!
We chose Jabulela to do the evening braai at our wedding reception and we were delighted with our choice. The booking process was straight forward, and Paul and Sarah are very easy to correspond with. We had a choice of 4 menu options and chose our traditional South African favourites. The process of setting up the braai, cooking the food and serving it was seamless. The food was absolutely delicious, and our guests were going back for third helpings. Everyone was very enthusiastic about the food and we received nothing but positive comments. Jabulela also provided delicious homemade monkeygland sauce to accompany the meat/chicken. We are so pleased we chose Jabulela to cater the evening braai at our wedding and would not hesitate to highly recommend them for any wedding or function. Their friendly, thoughtful approach towards us and our guests added a special touch to what was a perfect day. Thanks again to Paul and Sarah!
Great to come across a bbq that caters for vegetarian and vegan food, and ensures it is cooked and prepared away from meat products. Will gladly recommend them to everyone. Amazing friendly people with top quality delicious food. Look forward to seeing their monkey sauces in the supermarkets
If you are out and about and are in need of some top quality food and you see these guys, DEFINITELY give them a visit. They were at the sausage and cider festival, there were loads of food vans, these guys had the best food by far. And the bbq sauce with bourbon was to die for! nice guys too!
Met this great bunch today at the sausage and cider festival in Essex! I cannot recommend enough. My husband and I throughly enjoyed the food and they were such a friendly bunch xx A*

It was at one of the local fairs that I stumbled across Jabulela. Being a Kimberley Boy ( SA) I could not resist the temptation. I bought 4 KG's - and that was it - I was hooked. Since then I have had a special garlic and chilly mix and a standard batch of wors prepared and delivered to me in Kings Lynn. The meat was well packed, segregated and clearly labelled. The taste - oh so good.!!! Highly recommended.
This year we decided to have a South African themed Christmas party as one of the partners that we work with closely is based there. After doing some research we came across Jabulela and thought they sounded perfect for what we wanted - and we weren’t disappointed! The food was amazing and all served in the traditional way. We would like to thank Paul and Sarah for delivering a top quality service from start to finish for all of our volunteers and staff
Thank you for having us it was really good to meet you all, we had a fantastic time.
When visiting the Food Fair held at Barleylands (Nr Billericay) earlier this year, my wife and I chose Jabulela for our lunchime snack, opting for their own sausages with home made sauce, cooked on the Braai. Truly excellent, really meaty sausages, and the sauce was absolutely superb - and to top it off the whole crew serving was super friendly.
At any future events we may be at where Jabuela are also, I know exactly where we will head for at lunchtime! Great service and great food!
